About
SoCal Desert Cleanup is a California nonprofit working toward restoration of desert communities through illegal-dumping documentation, responsible cleanup planning and community participation.
Our focus is the Coachella Valley and Riverside County desert communities. We are in our launch phase, building the capacity for organized cleanup work.
Explore Our WorkRestoring what’s been ignored.
Living in the Coachella Valley revealed more than breathtaking landscapes. It revealed hidden dumping sites beyond the highways and scenic views: ravines, open spaces and neighborhoods too often overlooked.
SCDC’s founder describes finding purpose in turning hardship into action after rebuilding a life through recovery. That experience shaped the desire to restore neglected land, unite communities and create future opportunities for people seeking a second chance.
We believe restoration is possible—for both people and the places they call home.
Rooted in desert communities
Illegal dumping can damage habitat, threaten wildlife, increase fire and public-safety hazards, and leave neighborhoods and open spaces feeling forgotten.
SCDC’s mission brings together restoration, desert stewardship and community action in the Coachella Valley and Riverside County desert communities. Protecting these places means planning work responsibly, rather than promising immediate cleanup.
Our approach
- Restoration: Work toward removing illegal dumping and restoring neglected desert land.
- Community participation: Bring residents, volunteers, businesses and community partners into the effort.
- Responsible planning: Build the permissions, safety, equipment, hauling and disposal arrangements needed before organized cleanups begin.
These are the themes behind our mission. Our Work explains what is active now and what remains planned.
